BITUMEN DEFINITION
Bitumen (UK: /ˈbɪtjʊmɪn/, US: /bɪˈtjuːmən,baɪ-/) is a black, sticky liquid or semi-solid form of petroleum. In some countires, it is commonly referred to as asphalt.
Bitumen can be found in natural deposits or may be a refined product.
The main use of bitumen is in road construction, where it is used as the join or bind to mixed with aggregate particles to make asphalt concrete. It is also used for bituminous waterproofing products, including sealing flat roofs or for production of roofing.
