WHAT IS BITUMEN ?

Bitumen is an oil based substance. It is produced by removing the lighter fractions from heavy crude oil during the process of refining, it is known as refined bitumen.  In some countires, bitumen is commonly known as “asphalt”, While some places, “asphalt” is the term used for a mixture of small stones, sand, filler and bitumen, which is used as a road paving material.

Bitumen is a black or dark-colored material that can be found in different forms, such us rock asphalt, natural bitumen, tar and bitumen derived from oil, which is referred to as petroleum bitumen.

Most of the roads around the world are paved with bitumen. 

Petroleum bitumen is typically known as bitumen.
