WHAT IS MODIFIED BITUMEN ?

Modified bitumen is thought of as part of the built-up roofing systems that have been used for more than 100 years. It is made of combination of asphalt with polymerized rubber or plastic and strengthen with fiberglass to create a waterproof membrane.

Modified bitumen roofing is mainly used on flat commercial roofs. Also depending on the type of material, these membranes may be installed as part of a two-layer or as part of a multi-ply.
Modified bitumen typically comes in rolls that are placed directly onto the substrate. The material may be heat welded, cold-adhered.
